In the dynamic world of technology entrepreneurship, women often face formidable challenges as they strive to make their mark in traditionally male-dominated sectors. The story of Laura Tlepina's journey not only sheds light on the hurdles encountered by women in this industry but also serves as an inspiring example of how they can overcome obstacles and succeed.

Hailing from Mangystau region, Kazakhstan, Laura Tlepina is a 36-year-old trailblazer who has made significant strides in the field of technology entrepreneurship. As the founder of 'Target Information Security,' a company specializing in cybersecurity, and an accomplished information security auditor, Laura has amassed an impressive 15 years of experience in the IT field. However, her path to success was not without its challenges.

Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Laura spent several years as an employee in the IT sector. However, unforeseen difficulties in her personal life compelled her to embrace a new path—one that would allow her to fully leverage her skills and regain control over her precious time. Laura took the bold step of establishing her own company, enabling her to effectively plan and manage her professional endeavors on her own terms.

Laura's company, Target Information Security, was founded in 2019 with a mission to provide consulting and practical services in the realm of information technology. One of the primary focuses of her business is to assist companies in successfully navigating the rigorous information security tests mandated by the state technical service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan. Through her work, Laura and her team have successfully conducted information security assessments for prominent organizations such as the Accounts Committee, Kolesa, World Health Organization, and Chamber of Expert Organizations.

Laura has encountered diverse and complex cases during her three years in business, each serving as a valuable learning experience. Success in her line of work is not solely dependent on her own efforts, but rather requires coordination with various stakeholders, including specialized state bodies responsible for issuing necessary documents, certificates, and statements of conformity. Laura openly acknowledges the bureaucratic challenges that persist in such processes, as employees in these organizations often shift responsibilities or present various reasons that prolong the decision-making timeline. Navigating through these intricate dynamics, Laura's emotional intelligence plays a pivotal role in building relationships, overcoming obstacles, and ultimately ensuring successful outcomes for her clients.

The gender biases and stereotypes deeply entrenched in the IT industry present additional hurdles for women entrepreneurs like Laura. The perception of technology as a male-dominated field remains prevalent, even though it no longer reflects the reality of a sector where men and women possess equal skills and capabilities. Nonetheless, Laura has demonstrated that gender does not determine competence or limit one's potential for success. Throughout her career, she has not only shattered stereotypes but has also embraced her role as a female entrepreneur with confidence and conviction.

Recognizing the importance of representation and empowerment, Laura has taken it upon herself to inspire and support other women seeking to enter the IT field. She has organized conferences where accomplished Kazakhstani women in IT, who have achieved remarkable careers, shared their experiences, thoughts, and motivations. By challenging preconceived notions and nurturing self-confidence in aspiring women entrepreneurs, Laura is actively fostering a more inclusive and diverse IT landscape.

Laura believes that women bring unique strengths to the field of technology entrepreneurship. In her opinion women are often more organized and possess excellent project management skills, making them highly adaptable and flexible. While recognizing the value of individual approaches for all employees, regardless of gender, Laura emphasizes the importance of empowering and supporting women in the IT sector.

Despite the numerous obstacles, Laura has thrived as a woman in technology entrepreneurship. Her journey serves as an inspiration to countless others, demonstrating that with determination and the right support, women can break barriers, challenge norms, and succeed in male-dominated industries. Laura's accomplishments not only pave the way for future generations of women entrepreneurs but also contribute to creating a more inclusive and gender-equal tech ecosystem.
