Kazakhstan's Cultural Heritage Shines at Tamyr Bazaar at Nazarbayev University

How can cultural heritage drive entrepreneurship and social change?

From October 10-13, 2024, the Nazarbayev University Research Centre for Entrepreneurship (NURCE) proudly co-organized the Tamyr Bazaar, a celebration of Kazakhstan's rich cultural roots. The event, named after the Kazakh word for "roots," offered students, staff, and visitors a chance to explore Kazakhstan’s rich heritage through unique handcrafted goods by local artisans, artists, and sculptors.

The Tamyr Bazaar was more than just a marketplace—it was a celebration of Kazakh heritage and contemporary artistry. By creating a platform for local artisans, the event reinforced Nazarbayev University’s commitment to supporting cultural preservation and fostering social change. It was a space where cultural appreciation and economic empowerment thrived together, inspiring the next generation to value both tradition and innovation.

At NURCE, we are dedicated to building bridges between heritage and modernity, empowering communities to see tradition as a catalyst for creativity and entrepreneurship.
