Kholida Khaldarova is a PhD candidate in the Eurasian Studies Program at Nazarbayev University. Trained in interdisciplinary studies, her research sits at the intersection of economic and cultural anthropology with a focus on gender, entrepreneurship and everyday negotiations of identity in Central Asia. Her doctoral project explores how female entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan navigate and negotiate competing ideals of modernity, success and emancipation alongside values of modesty, family values and expressions of national identity.
